The National Quilt Museum

The museum was founded in 1991 by Bill Schroeder and Meredith Schroeder. Its collection contains more than 600 pieces of art, with new exhibitions being added on a regular basis. The three climate-controlled exhibition galleries at the museum feature a variety of quilts and fiber arts, from traditional pieces to those you wouldn’t believe were made of fabric.

The Floodwall Murals is an art and history exhibition that spans three blocks of Paducah. Dafford and Roe, two renowned muralists, transformed a grey concrete floodwall to one of America’s most impressive art displays. The display tells the history of the city. The walls are also adorned with bronze panels that provide an explanation of each painting.

This museum, located in the Market House of 1905, displays artifacts that date back to the past. The well-preserved gingerbread-woodworked drugstore is a highlight. The town’s early history and Civil War are showcased in exhibits. Henry Clay is even immortalized in a lifelike statue.

Alben Barkley was the vice president of the city. A room in the museum is dedicated to him. The museum also has rooms dedicated to the local Native American culture. These include a display featuring quilts made and displayed by Mrs. Robert E Lee. There are guided group tours available.

Allen and June Dossey are the owners of Purple Toad. The couple started planting their vineyards in 1998, and the construction of their winery began in 2008. Allen’s birthday was July 1, 2009. The winery officially opened its doors on that date. The long-shot plan was a success, as evidenced by the large crowd that waited in line to buy their first bottles.

The winery uses natural flavors and fruit juices to produce sweet wines. Paducah Blue is a concord grape base wine. Black and Bruised is a blackberry and Concord wine. Chocolate Harbor is a port-style wine with cocoa.
